Have you ever met somebody who is trying to give others the impression that they’ve got it all together? They seem to be strong when strength is needed, compassionate when it’s needed, and so forth. They’ve gained the reputation of being “pillars of the church” or “pillars of society”; but you can sense they have things that they aren’t telling. God, however, knows exactly what they’re keeping secret, and He continuously speaks to them about relinquishing those idols to Him. If they do, then He won’t manifest them publicly. But if they don’t, then the time will come when it will “be known and come abroad” (Luke 8:17).
