None of us really has any authority over anything, except what is given us by the Lord. He warns us to not think more highly than we ought, because it can open the door to descending into places where we really don't want to go. At the same time, the Holy Spirit is searching for those who are earnestly serving the Lord; and He's marking them to preserve them during the times of judgment that are coming. The bottom line is: we have a choice; but our choice carries with it eternal consequences.
